Encounter with Animals by Gerald Durrell
This was the first book I have read by Durrell. I found this little book funny. My fascination with animals has gone back to early childhood, and reading a like-minded soul was affirming. His ability to swirl a story out of not much is amazing. If you love animals and short humor writing, this is the book for you.
The Mysterious Affair of Judith Potts by Robert Thorogood (Marlow Murder Club #5)
My current favorite mystery series is The Marlow Murder Club. It’s the ultimate cozy mystery series with a good dose of humor. I had pre-order this book ahead of time but was deeply disappointed when I actually read it. The plot was mixed up, and the characters were not their usual funny selves. The book seemed to have a bit of an identity crisis. When I got to the climax, I was disappointed, as the two separate storylines did not line up at all. I still recommend the series in general it was this book felt more like filler than a whole book on its own.
