Cold and hot all the time, I do not rest.
Thrown onto the rising flames—
You think you know my worth—
When you casually use me for your own hunger.
When you rub me down with that dirty washcloth
Or throw me into the sink when I am too hot from working hard.
I have seen all the eggs you scramble, fry, and poach on my back.
When you slap cold food onto my metal back, hot or cold.
I am useful; I rise and shine every day.
I am worthy of your respect.
