How my reading tastes have changed since childhood. Here are a few of my favorite books from back then. During my childhood, I loved animals, and a great deal of my reading focused on that interest, especially dogs and horseback riding.
Mystery
I have always had enough mysteries and thrillers; it started at an early age with reading the Trixie Belden and Nancy Drew series. I can honestly say my favorite genres are still mysteries, even though I no longer read this series and have moved on to writers like Agatha Christie and Alexander McCall Smith.

Non-Fiction
Growing up, I loved animals and was heavily involved in horseback riding and dog agility. My dream career was being an equine veterinarian for sport horses. My interests have changed a great deal, and I no longer dream of being a dessage, show jumping horseback rider, or doing competitive canine sports. But I still love animals and have a beloved terrier who is a faithful companion.

Fiction
Fiction that focuses on women’s lives and animals has always been an interest of mine. I have read Anne of Green Gables countless times and always enjoy the story. Here are more examples of my obsession with horses below.

Classics
I have always had appreciation for British classics, even at an early age. My favorite books were The Wind in the Willows, Paddington Bear, and the James Herriot series. I still greatly enjoy british classics as an adult.
