I want to share my reading for this month with you. I hope you enjoy it.
The Geometry of Holding Hands by Alexander Smith McCall

Isabel Dalhousie series is quickly becoming one of my favorites I enjoy most of Alexander Smith McCall’s books, however, his series set in Edinburgh is especially good. This novel covers the domestic struggles Isabel faces when her niece wants to marry a stranger to her and she suspects of trying to steal the family money by marrying her niece. Isabel goes into deep investigation of the young man and his history and uncovers that he is lying about who he is. However, things do not end the way she wants them to with her niece love life. The one thing I did not like about this book was plot about the politicians fighting and her investigation in to it, this second story line did not line up well with or relate to the main story of the novel. Also, some of the behavior made by Isabel in this novel seemed out of character for her. I would recommed this series if you are looking for light mystery series, however, this novel was not one of the better one in the Isabel Dalhousie series.
The Waves, by Virginia Woolf

Virginia Woolf is difficult reading and I have read several of her books in college. However, this was a book given to me by English professor my senior year in college. She thought I would enjoy the writing style as it poetric proses and stream of consciousness. When reading this book, I was amazed by the beauty of the proses on the page. This book is truly like poetry in the novel form. I greatly enjoyed the metaphors and strong imagery on the pages. The book mesmerized me with its writing style. I found myself lost in another world of Virginia Woolf creation, “The Waves”.
The one thing I did not like about this book was the change in time and space on one page, however, that is a stream of consciousness at work. “The Waves” did not disappoint me, and I strongly recommend it as one of Virginia Woolf’s most elegantly written proses.
