Book Reviews for the Month of May. This month I completed to novels based in historical settings in UK and China, New York City. I am sharing my review of each novel with you this month.
Faro’s Daughter by Georgette Heyer

I found this book a little cheesy but that is the nature of Georgette Heyer’s Historical Fiction. The story line follows a heroine trying to climb the social latter; however, the story line focuses on ironic and silly romantic characters trying to find a partners with many silly mistakes and wrong turns along the way.
The novel is not to be taken seriously and the romance is a little unbelievable, the characters’ motivations.
Kinfolk (A Novel of Chine) by Pearl S. Buck

I enjoyed reading this novel about the liang family returning to their home country of Peking China.
I like the character development and struggles that these characters face in returning to China after their parents had immigrated and made lives in New York City.
However, the characteristics of people in were overdraw, such as the indifferent father figure and the selfish daughter and the soulless lover were a little too much at points in the novel.
